Join the creative movement: pick up pencil, brush, and vibrant colors to protect Armenia's irreplaceable biodiversity and ancient cultural heritage. Organized by the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) in partnership with the National Center of Aesthetics and general partner VivaCell-MTS, the 5th Pan-Armenian Painting Contest invites Armenian children and teenagers across the Republic of Armenia and the global diaspora to unite their artistic voices in defense of nature.
The Three Official Contest Themes & Mission
Launched first in 2008 as part of the SunChild environmental education movement and expanded worldwide in 2010, the annual Pan-Armenian Painting Contest empowers young artists aged 5 through 16 to examine the fragile ecosystems of the South Caucasus. From August 15 through the final submission deadline of October 30, 2012, participants are invited to submit original artwork across three thematic categories:
- 1. Endemics of the Armenian Highland (Հայկական լեռնաշխարհի էնդեմիկներ): Depicting rare flora and fauna native to the volcanic plateaus, river gorges, and alpine meadows of historic and modern Armenia, including the Caucasian leopard, Armenian mouflon, Sevan trout, and wild iris species.
- 2. Cultural Treasures of Armenia (Հայաստանի մշակութային գանձեր): Celebrating ancient monastic complexes, carved stone khachkars, Urartian citadels, illuminated manuscripts, and enduring folk traditions that require active preservation.
- 3. Nature in Danger (Վտանգված բնություն): Highlighting urgent ecological challenges such as deforestation, habitat fragmentation, river pollution, and the civic responsibility of every generation to safeguard the environment.
